Vladimir Gofman

Vladimir Gofman - Head Coach and club owner

Vladimir has 40 years of fencing coaching experience. He's trained national champions in the Soviet Union, and worked in the Olympic Sports Reserve School of Belarus. His team winnings include First Place Epee team National Under 19 ('98), Third Place National Open ('98), Third Place National Under 19 ('99), Great Neck High School South First Place Nassau ('02). He has several winning students in the Long Island area and NYC, including Michael Elfassy - 1st National Junior Olympics Cadet '06, 3rd Place Junior Olympics Junior '06.  Vladimir has many current and former Foil PSAL Tournament Champions from 1996-2008.  Many of his Epee students are tournament Champions in Long Island High Schools including 2008 where his students took 1st for both boys and girls. Vladimr has a Masters Degree in Physical Education from the Gomel State University in Belarus.



Gidon Rezkin Gidon Retzkin - foil coach

Gidon has been fencing since 1988. He was an Israeli cadet, Junior and Senior champion. Gidon has competed in many World Cup and World Championships. He has been coaching at the North Shore Fencers Club since 2005 and was the coach at Garden City High School in the season 2007-2008. Gidon won Nassau county coach of the year for 2008.



Tanya NovakovskayaTanya Novakovska - epee coach

Tanya was born in 1985 in Ukraine, Nikolaev. Her fencing career began in 1994 in her native city when she was engaged in fencing youth organization by her first coach Petr Chelpanov. At the age of 12 she became a medalist of a National Junior Championship and therefore was accepted to a National Ukrainian Junior Team. Since that time she was working with the Ukrainian National Fencing Team's head coach Dmitry Reizlyn. Working with him she became twice Junior European Champion in 2004 Espinho, Portugal; Junior World Silver medalist in 2005 Linz, Austria; Junior European Bronze Medalist in 2003 in Croatia, Winner and Medalist of numerous Junior and Senior World Cups, Winner of 2005 World Universiade in Izmir, Turkey.
In the year 2006 she was accepted to St. John's University, and currently is holding a position of a coach in North Shore Fencers Club.


ArpiArpad Horvath - epee coach

Arpad began his fencing career in 1989 in Budapest, Hungary. He was a National Champion on all levels winning 16 gold medals as an epee and foil fencer, Cadet World and Junior European Champion, and Junior World Cup winner. Arpad received a full scholarship to St.John's University where he became a two time NCAA Individual Champion. IFA Champion and a 4 time Regional Champion. He received First Team All-American honors twice, St. John's Fencing Team MVP and 2005 St. John's Athlete of the Year Award. Arpad has been coaching at the North Shore Fencers Club since 2005 and was the assistant coach at Stevens Institute of Technology in the 2005-2007 seasons.


Attila LukacsAttila Lukacs - epee coach

Attila Lukacs was born in Hungary, Budapest in 1981, he started his fencing career at the age of 9, and started to competing at the age of 12. He is a multiple national champion, at international competitions, he took 9th in Cadet World Championship, 3rd in Junior European team Championship, and multiple medalist at Junior World Cups. As a competitor he was working with Kornel Udvarhelyi, who was the junior national team coach in Hungary, and the womens epee team coach in the United States of America. Also, Gabor Udvarhelyi, who is the national coach of the multiple European, world and Olympian champion Hungarian epee team.
